Girl's Weekend!

Saturday morning the boys headed up the hill to call the hogs.  Maddie Kate and I had a great girl's weekend!  We had lots of errands to run but first we had to do a little laundry...

Then we were off to the mall!  MK is definitely her mother's daughter. She found a photo opp in Dillard's!

She and I were both super excited for Dippin Dots but even after visiting twice there wasn't anyone working at the stand. We were super disappointed!!!  We perked right up with a couple cookies and cream gourmet popsicles from LePops in the Heights!

Saturday evening we went to visit friends for the big game and stayed up extra late snuggling and watching tv. Today we both slept in...MK slept in her bed all night long!  Then we did a few more chores before a fun day of grocery shopping, mass, a trip to Target (always entertaining  with our toy loving girl!) and a birthday party for our friend Madeline.

Such a fun weekend with my favorite sweet, ornery girl!

Don't be tardy for the party!

Yesterday on the way to school the kids were loudly debating who should be dropped off first (as if they had a say...Landon is almost always dropped off first or he'd be late every day!)

When Landon told MK that he definitely thought we should drop her off first...she wholeheartedly disagreed and said "no, bubba!  I don't want you to get a party slip!". It was so hard to contain my laughter because I'm definitely not correcting her on that one...it's too funny!

And because no post is complete without a picture...here is one from a couple weeks ago. The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed it!

First Day of School 2015

The kids started school on August 17th.

Landon started first grade at Christ the King and is in Mrs. Tursky's class. Most of his friends from kindergarten are in other classes but Landon was excited to get to know the other kids in his grade. He sits at the same table as his friend Ty. He's the most handsome 6 year old I know!

Maddie Kate started the 3 year old class at Second Presbyterian. She is in Mrs. Melinda's class. This is her last year at Second Pres!  She is in a smaller class this year and was excited that her "boyfriend" Cameron is in her class.  Nana said Maddie Kate went right in and started playing on her first day!

We are all looking forward to a fun year full of learning and new experiences!  Daddy turned the sprinkler on the first day of school and our favorite picture spot was in its path. The kids tried for a quick picture and dodged getting drenched!

Conversations with the kiddos...

Yesterday on the way to the pool to meet some friends for a fun Friday night MK asked me when I was a little kid.
Me: oh, about 30 years ago
MK: did I hold you when you were little?
Me: nope, you weren't born yet
MK: where was I?  Was I in heaven?
Landon: no Maddie, Jesus was making you
MK: OH!  That's SO nice of him!!!

Haha!  Sure made me laugh!

This morning while snuggling and being lazy MK said, "mommy I missed you so much!  Where have you been?"  I said "bed!" and we both laughed. She's such a sweet little stinker.

Now I'm off to make lazy Saturday morning biscuits especially requested by most favorite 6 year old in the whole world!  Maybe someday soon I will get caught up on the ol' blog!  We have had so many adventures to write about!

Knock knock...

Tonight, while carrying out the bedtime routine, we were all goofing off a little in Landon's room. He started talking about a part of mass that is sometimes sung...the breaking of the bread (that's according to Google...I don't know all the proper names for the parts of the mass...Mary, if you're reading this I might need a refresher. :))
He wanted to sing it but he gets so embarrassed when he sings so he asked me to come into the living room and sing it with him. When he gets embarrassed he gets a little goofy but it made me happy that he's learning so much about the mass and that he likes to talk about it.  We sang it together.

Then. Out of nowhere. He says..."knock knock"

I ask the obligatory, "who's there?"

He says, "little old lady"

I say, "little old lady who"...while mind you, still in the religious frame of mind and a bit confused as to how we transitioned to a knock knock joke so quickly.

He says...about as dry witted as possible, "I didn't know you could yodle!"

I could not stop laughing!!!!!  It was surely a "you had to be there" moment but it's one I don't want to forget. That kid can be so unexpectedly funny sometimes!!!  Turns out he and Jim read that joke is his Highlights magazine last night...man I sure love my boys!

Snow Fun 2015!

I've been hoping for snow all winter long and in the last couple of weeks we have finally seen a little of the winter weather I've been waiting for!  The kiddos have had fun playing outside and...aside from a few days I spent with the flu so have I!  We've done a little sledding, gone on walks, enjoyed hot chocolate and we've had fun just being together!  We've had spaghetti and popsicles for breakfast (just the kids...grody), we've watched a few movies...the kids have had too much electronic time and I've enjoyed seeing all the fun snow day pictures posted by our friends.  School has been out several days and I've worked from home quite a bit. The kids have enjoyed extra Nana and Papa time and although Jim has been very busy with work, he's been home a lot to play too!  Tomorrow is probably our last snow day this year and I plan on working a little and playing a lot!  Landon has cyber school work and I have some fun little experiments planned...I hope to make our last snow day together super fun!

Happy Valentine's Day 2015

A few weeks ago I decided it was about time to dust off the fancy camera and have a good old fashioned photo shoot for Valentine's Day!  The kiddos have grown and changed so much and I haven't been so good at taking good, quality pictures!  They're just pretty fun these days!  They adore one another and I hope they always do.  We love you Landon and Maddie Kate!
