Quack quack, cajun dinner and mule ride

A few weeks ago while "up north" for a visit Landon got to play with Poppy's duck calls, go out to eat at Landry's and also got to ride the mule on the farm!!

Okay Poppy, show me how this works so I can call the big ducks in!

Let's see if I can get this right...

What? Aren't you supposed to chew on it to warm it up?

Dinner at Landry's!

Let me drive Papa! Oh look! A duck on the pond...where are those duck calls!?

This is the life!

Sitting up, old friends, stinky food and swimming!

Landon perfected sitting up last weekend...one day he kind of had it and the next it was like he was an old pro! Isn't it funny how that happens?! That same weekend our friends Candy, Trent, their boys and Candy's mom came to visit us at the farm for lunch. It was so good to see them. Candy and I went to school together and were more like sisters than just friends. Friends like that are just priceless and we always enjoy seeing them.

I just can't describe how much fun we are having with our little guy. He is truly a blessing and we enjoy every single day with him. This week he started eating baby food of the stinky meat variety...really, it smells nasty and his face after the first bite of chicken was hysterical. Of course, after the first couple of bites he decided he liked it. We call him Mikey...cause he'll eat anything. Today we went to a fish fry and he got to go swimming with daddy!

Thanks for the new toy Mimi! Now, what am I supposed to do with this thing?

I figured it out all by myself! You gotta take all the rings off! I can do this!

Mimi, I need to check my facebook...let me have the mouse.

New toys are fun and my mommy thinks I have the cutest cheeks ever!

Yay for tummy time! It's not so bad after all!

Dax and Landon on the farm!

Ty and Landon on the farm too!

Nana and Papa got a new chair and I love it!

Who needs a teething ring? Isn't that what toes are for?

Woohoo! Swimming is fun!

Yeah, I want the bubbles that little girl behind me has...you just wait until I'm big enough!

**UPDATE**

Landon rolled from his tummy to his back over the weekend and twice this morning! Since the last post he's tried carrots, squash and applesauce...his new name is Mikey, he'll eat anything. He's getting closer and closer to sitting up on his own and he loves swinging at the park down the street from our house. I have lots of pictures of him swinging but I'll leave you with this one...quite possibly the best and funniest grin ever!

Landon's half a year old...and hungry!

We celebrated Landon's half year birthday with some help from Gerber! Yep, no more dinners consisting of bland cereal and boring formula...we've added some "real" food to Landon's dinnertime selections and was he ever ready! The kid acted like we'd been hiding the good stuff for months and months! He's a fan of green beans, peas and sweet potatoes so far and we bought some carrots and fruits today...we'll try those next week. Needless to say...he takes after his mommy and daddy. We're a food lovin' family!

Landon had his 6 month checkup last week...here are his stats:
Weight 17 lbs 10 oz
Length 27 3/4 inches

He's definitely grown since his last checkup!! He isn't quite sitting up yet and he still isn't a fan of tummy time...even though he rolls to his tummy almost every time you lay him on his back! He refuses to roll the other direction. He still babbles away and his belly laugh makes us belly laugh! He likes to help us fold laundry, can't wait to get a good handful of Zoe's fur (he's gotten close!) and he says "dada" . Of course it's on purpose! Right, dada? :)

Here are some fun dinnertime pictures...

K - I've opened wide now hurry it up...

Really, if you can't get it to me any quicker I'll do it myself. Give me that spoon.

MMMMMMMM....peas!

No hands!

What do you mean it's all gone!?

I like sweet potatoes...I promise I do.

See, I told you!

Do you HAVE to take pictures of every bite? Let me eat already!

And helping with the laundry...

Okay daddy, this one looks okay. Good job!

Let me just taste it to be sure...

Laundry is fun!!!

Mother's Day and Father's Day

I'm a little late in posting this one...but Landon made our first Mother's Day and Father's Day extra special this year and he spent lots of time at The Painted Pig making our gifts! Nana took Landon to have the cutest platter made for me and I took him to have a special frame made for his daddy. We love The Painted Pig and can't wait to go back to paint some more as Landon gets bigger!

I cried when I saw this platter...I love it!

Jim really liked his frame and one of these days I might actually get a picture for it! :)

Landon's first flight!

We went to Dallas over 4th of July weekend for our goddaughter Blakely's baptism. She was born a couple of weeks after Landon and it was our first time to meet her. She is adorable and we are very honored to be her godparents. Her big sister is Riley who you may remember from a previous post...we went to the lake in Texas with them a few years ago and Riley was so much fun on the boat! Riley is already 3 and I'm not sure we had seen her since our wedding! She was one of our flower girls. She was so cute...she saw her daddy at the end of the aisle and she ran down to see him! She is getting so big and is absolutely precious!

We decided to fly down since we weren't sure how Landon would do in a car for that long...and kiddos under 2 fly free so it seemed like the perfect idea. We were a little nervous about flying with our little guy because of the pressure on the ears and also because we've both been on planes with screaming kids and we didn't want to be "that family". Landon is a very laid back baby so thought the odds were in our favor...and we were right! He was perfect on the plane! He looked around and babbled away at the people sitting next to us...and he was much more patient than we were when we thought our bags were lost!

Outside before the airport...Landon's all "chill" as if he's done this a million times!

Southwest was out of wings but he got a sticker! The agent helping us was so nice and thought Landon was such a cutie...she's right. :)

Really, mom...why does daddy have to make silly faces for the camera?

Boarding the plane!

This was supposed to be our family picture on the plane...but mommy did not have a photogenic moment so here's Landon and daddy!

Landon and his new buddy Blakely! She's much better with tummy time!

Princess Riley stuck in the middle with Landon trying to eat Blakely's fingers! Aren't they cutie pies!?

Here is Riley running down the aisle at our wedding...is that precious or what?!

We had such a good weekend and can't wait to visit again!

Happy Anniversary!

So, I'm a little late posting this but Jim and I celebrated our second anniversary on June 23rd. I can't believe we have been married for two years! It really seems like we just got engaged yesterday. Our time together has been wonderful and I'm so happy that we found each other (and that he stuck around while I grew up a little). Our little family has grown and we feel blessed beyond belief. We are looking forward to the years to come.

We celebrated by going to happy hour at Cregan's in North Little Rock and then we walked down to Ristorante Capeo for dinner. It was a fabulous evening...but I was kinda sad that we didn't have another layer of wedding cake to dig into! Next year maybe we'll have Mickey's recreate the top layer of our wedding cake for us...or maybe we'll just get a couple cupcakes. If you know me at all you know I love a good excuse for cake!

Speaking of cake...here are a few of my favorite cake pictures...

I spent countless hours searching for wedding cake ideas. I realize this is silly and that the cake isn't the most important part of the day...but again, if you know me you know I love cake! I was happy with how our's turned out. The cake topper was my grandparent's. I was so excited that my Mama saved it and that we could use it. My Mama and Papa are two of my most favorite people and no other cake topper would have done for our wedding.

Here they are on their wedding day. They will celebrate their 60th anniversary this year!

Jim LOVES cheesecake...so, we had 4 groom's cheesecakes!

I got him good! Okay, so he got me good too. I almost never got the cake out of my nose!

I love tradition! I didn't let Jim see my dress before the wedding, we didn't see each other on our wedding day until just before the ceremony and I had my something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. So, as I'm sure you've gathered...in keeping with wedding traditions we saved the top layer of our wedding cake and ate it on our first anniversary. Amazingly enough it was just as good a year later even after being frozen!

He really got me good a year later!!

Happy Anniversary Sweetie!

Love you, Boog - yes he calls me Boog...it's short for Booger Bear...and I'm okay with it. :)

Tummy time progress, Zoe the cat and I heart NY!

Landon wakes up so happy every morning and this morning we took some pictures. He's doing better with tummy time...he still doesn't love it but we are making progress!

He and his puppy dog were trying to watch some tv this morning...we had the news on and they were very interested as you can see!

I brought him this I heart New York onesie back from NYC. I went for a class and my friend Patty from Chicago met me there. I'll post some pictures from that trip soon. The highlight was definitely seeing Phantom of the Opera from the 4th row!

What are you lookin' at?! Zoe and Landon are starting to take an interest in each other. I know Landon will be pulling her tail and chasing her in no time!

Wow! They tell me these are called toes! I didn't even know I had them before now!
