Memorial Day Weekend in Kansas

We took Landon to Kansas for a fun Memorial Day weekend visit with Great Papa and Mama, Aunt Lindy and Uncle Carl, Poppy and Uncle Chris. Landon had lots of "firsts" on this trip! He caught his first "eesh", rode his first four wheeler and learned how to play fetch with Molly the dog.

Great Papa and Great Mama kind of like Landon...maybe just a little. Papa says that it's a good thing we don't live closer because he'd have Landon super spoiled if we did and I believe it!

Growing up, Landon's Uncle Chris and I always spent a couple of weeks with Mama and Papa during the summer. Mama always bought us a gold fish to take care of while we were there, we got to have ice cream from the ice cream truck, we went swimming, fishing, to vacation bible school at their church. We spent summer evenings on the front porch swing and caught lots and lots of lightening bugs! We also spent countless hours at the neighborhood park where there was the best curly slide and merry-go-round ever! We're pretty darn lucky!! Some of my most favorite childhood memories are from the times we spent with Mama and Papa and I'm so thankful that Landon will get to know how great his Great Papa and Mama are!

Here are a few pictures from our fun weekend! We can't wait to go back!

Landon was tuckered out from the trip up there...so, he and Great Papa took a nap to rest up for the afternoon fun!

While the men went fishing Mama, Aunt Lindy and I took Landon out to the wheat field to get some pictures.

Yep, I believe Great Papa likes our little guy...just a smidge. I think the feeling's mutual.

"Us dat!?"

So, this is what an "eesh" looks like in person. My dada and I watch people catch these on tv!

Great Papa these "eesh" are cool!

They look better on me dad.

The fish you caught was how big? I don't buy it...are you tellin' me the truth dada?

Dada, your hat looks better on me too...

Me me!! Pick me! I want to go fishing!

Wow, there are lots of fun sticks in Kansas!

Time to water the yard guys! Give me a hand over here.

Yay! I got up here all by myself! Let's talk dinner...what's on the menu tonight?

This is my Great Mama and she makes the BEST cinnamon rolls in the entire universe!

Okay Molly, I threw the bottle you're playing with. Now fetch!

Poppy...you're the best! Are you going to take me "eeshing" soon?

When I grow up I want to be just like this kid. He's alllllright.

Look Great Mama! It's Molly!

Vroooom vrooooom! Great Papa where have you been hiding this all my life?! It's SO much fun!

Yeah, that's right...I've got my future fisherman hat. Come on boys, let me show you how it's done!

Alright Dada! I think Poppy hooked a big one for us!

Wow! My very first "eesh" Get the hushpuppies ready cause we're having us a "eesh" fry!

I'm ready to catch another one!!

Hey Uncle Chris! Let me show you how I do this!

See you later Great Papa and Dada! I'll hold down the fort while you go catch some more "eesh"!

This was my Uncle Carl's wagon when he was a kiddo like me. My Aunt Lindy had it restored and I love it!

Dat's Big Bird!

Great Mama, you give the best wagon rides! I can't wait to come back to visit again soon!

USS "Us Dat!?"

We spent last weekend at Greers Ferry lake with our friends Ryan and Emily. It was a perfect, laid back lake weekend and we really enjoyed it! Jim and I really hoped that Landon would like the lake because we love it so much. We knew we had a “lake kid” the minute he got on the boat! He went directly to the driver’s seat and said “Let’s Go!”. Ryan let him “drive” the boat and the kid acted like he knew exactly what he was doing! Cracked us all up! He's such a little stinker and we kind of like him…a lot. Since Landon’s favorite question these days is “us dat!?” his dada decided to name his floaty the “USS Us Dat?” Ha! He wanted me to get a paint pen after it before I reminded him that this “USS Us Dat” doesn’t belong to us.

Emily posted some pictures to her blog. We can’t wait for little Audrey to get here so she and Landon can have fun at the lake together!

Nutritious and Delicious!

You know what happens when you go too long without blogging? If you're anything like me you get entirely too overwhelmed with where to start one when you actually have some time! We have been having so much fun with our little guy that I'm just too zonked in the evening to stay up late blogging.

Well...Landon's Poppy gave me a call last week to remind me of just how behind I am...so, this one's for you Poppy! We are glad you came to visit us today and can't wait to see you again soon!

Here's Landon doing what his Eberhard side does best! Eating...we're all about the food and enjoy a good meal! Landon enjoys Pasta Pickups which reminds me of a story I don't think I blogged about yet. A few weeks ago I was doing the weekly shopping at our neighborhood Kroger. This particular week was extra busy so I stocked up on Gerber meals for the nights I knew we wouldn't have time to cook early enough for Landon's dinner. We've never been good at eating early....Jim and I still eat after Landon goes to bed. Anyway, back to the story...as I was checking out the lady checking me out (she was probably in her early 60s) felt the need to inform me that "you know, babies will eat table food too" NO WAY! How in the world did I miss this? I had NO idea that I could actually cook 'real" food for my kid? Silly me!

I politely told her that yes, our kiddo loves "table food" and that his dada and I love to cook. Surely she was just jealous that they didn't have Pasta Pickups when her kids were little! I guess the advice never stops...and I'm grateful for it even if for a good laugh!

Yum Yum! Pasta Pickups are my favorite...back off Kroger Lady!

Hmmm...should I try the fork out?

Maybe it will be easier if I just put the pasta pickup on myself. How do my mommy and daddy make this look so easy?

Forget this fork thing!! My way is so much better!

Oh yeah, if you think that's funny...watch this!

Hahahahahahaha!

Oh yeah, pasta pickup hair-do! Mommy, go start my bath!
